Girls Varsity Romp Over Hudson Catholic, Advance to Semi's

T.Pierson
Paul VI:  2  (25-12, 25-9)
Hudson Catholic:  0

Despite losing one of their team captains, Katie Underwood, to injury the Paul VI Girls Varsity Volleyball team came out and took the game right to visiting Hudson Catholic, defeating the #12 seed visitors in 2 straight sets, 25-12, 25-9.

Offensively the Eagles were led by Outsides Fiona Marziello (10 Kills) and Carly Histing (5 Kills), as well as Middles Rachel Robb (6 Kills) and Brenna Jones (4 Kills).  Setter Kim Bryfogle (21 Assists) ran the show at the net, and Libero Sophia Marziello (7 Digs) played very steady in the back row.  Alex Mahurter (4 Aces, 3 Digs), who was filling in for the injured Underwood, was the surprise of the match - playing very steady all the way around the rotation, and at one point in the 2nd set serving for 13 consecutive points.

The win today sets the stage for the Varsity Girls first ever trip to the State Semi-Finals, this Thursday vs. #1 Immaculate Heart to see who will go the State Championship Game.
