    Paul VI Alum, Alec Vignola, sets record in Albright victory

    DALLAS, Pa. – The Albright football team earned a 50-17 victory over Misericordia on Saturday afternoon, pushing the team's record to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in MAC play. Alec Vignola finished 20-of-21 for 306 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also led the Lions in rushing, gaining 54 yards on five carries. Vignola's 95.2 percent completion percentage is a new school record. He held the old record of 90 percent, set last season with his 18-for-20 performance against Misericordia.

    Brian Brown and Jamir Garland combined for 182 rushing yards and two scores as Paul VIdefeated Cherry Hill East, 31-0, in Cherry Hill.
    Garland opened up the scoring with a 51-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. The Eagles followed that up as John Donegan connected with Eric Matos on a 35-yard strike to find the end zone once more before the end of the first quarter.

    Henry Westermann capped off the first-half scoring when he sent a 34-yard field goal through the uprights.

    Brown collected his touchdown in the fourth quarter when he crossed the goal line on a 45-yard run. Keanu Williams added six more points when he recovered a fumble in the end zone.

    Donegan completed five of his 10 passing attempts for 100 yards and a touchdown. Matos finished the day with 45 yards and a score on two receptions as Westermann converted on all four of his point-after attempts to go with his second quarter field goal.
