Paul VI Celebrated 50 Years at the Blue & White Gala and Hall of Fame Induction
Throughout the past year, Paul VI High School has commemorated its anniversary with numerous events; culminating with the 50th Anniversary Blue and White Gala and Alumni Hall of Fame Induction on Saturday, October 15th, at 7:00 p.m., at Lucien’s Manor, in Berlin. Over 360 alumni, friends, and families spent the evening together toasting our Hall of Fame Inductees, reminiscing, enjoying dinner, dancing, and celebration of 50 years! It was an evening to remember.
Every three years, members of the Paul VI community are named to the Hall of Fame. It is not easy for the school to select from its many successful alumni. There are graduates who are successful in every field—business, government, education, law, science, health care, performing arts, and more. Many graduates are committed to serving the Catholic Church as laypeople, priests, and religious, and many alumni elect to send their own children to Paul VI.
This year, the school honored eight individuals, one family, and one athletic team for their outstanding contributions to both Paul VI and the larger community.
The 2016 inductees into the Paul VI Alumni Hall of Fame are:
Tami L.Bach-Slonis, M.D., Ph.D. ’87

The 2016 Golf Tournament held on June 22, 2015 was a smashing success with 160 golfers and 55 event sponsors. Paul VI High School and the golf tournament committee, would like to thank all of our many sponsors, golfers, and volunteers for their generous sponsorships, participation and support. Because of your contribution and involvement, our inaugural golf tournament raised over $43,625.00 in net proceeds for the school. The entire day from start to finish was absolutely phenomenal, and a good time was had by all.
We at Paul VI High School continue to advance our mission of the total development of our students by providing expanded opportunities in academics, athletics, and the arts. The proceeds from your investment will benefit our scholarship program and assist with the building improvements in the learning media center and the school dining room. Your generosity allows us to sustain the excellence that Paul VI brings to our students and to the greater community.
Alumni, students, parents and coaches put their best foot forward in Paul VI’s Annual Blue and White Alumni Run and Walk. This 5k, sponsored by the Paul VI Alumni Association and the Boys Cross Country Team, was held at Pennypacker Park, Haddonfield on October 22nd. The event supports student scholarships through Paul VI’s Annual Giving Campaign. It also provides a great opportunity for alumni and students to connect and enjoy a fun run and walk in the park. Despite the fact that was a chilly and wet morning, runners showed up in numbers and enjoyed the run.
Participants included alumni from each decade of the school’s existence. Frank Ryan, class of ’71 held the distinction of being the male runner from the earliest graduating year. "I'm not sure what took a greater toll...trying to dance to the 70's sounds at the Blue and White Gala and Hall of Fame dinner or running the Alumni 5K. Both were two very different and fun ways to celebrate PVI." he said.
Kristen Brogan, class of ’82, was counterpart as the female from the earliest graduating class. Brogan also earned the Silver Award for female alumni. She said, “I began participating 2 years ago as a mom by bringing snacks as my son, Jack, is a current student on the cross country team. Last year I thought it would be nice to run, so I started training, and here I am again this year. It was a great day!” Brogan also finished 2nd in the female alumna category, for the second year in row!
Helene Usher, age 11, received the award for 1st place runner under age 12 and 2nd place female runner overall. She is the daughter of alumna Helene McGovern Usher ’92, a top runner and captain of the Paul VI Girls XC Team and all parochial champion. It looks as though we have a future cross country champion in our mist!
The Boys Cross Country Team parents generously provided snacks and pitched in to help make this a great day. Alumni participants, families and the cross country team met for lunch at Mulligan’s in Oaklyn for a “dine & donate” following the race.
The medalists included:

Homecoming Game - Alumni Night
Save the Date: Wednesday, November 23, 2016, 7:00 p.m. Watch for Details
Last year's Homecoming celebrated with the Paul VI Eagles beating Moorestown 34-8
Over 400 alumni attended the alumni festivities.
Alumni spanning the classes of 1969 thru the class of 2015 celebrated homecoming together. Game night began with Alumni tours of the school from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Alumni were given blue fleece scarves with the monogram "PVI Alumn" and were invited to form an honor guard to welcome the 2015 PVI Eagles. Following the prayer and the national anthem, alumni, friends and family enjoyed the game and a barbeque with live music from the PVI Band. After the game there was a post-game meet and greet at the Irish Mile.
The classes of 1969 and 1970 showed up with record numbers as they kicked off their 45th and 46th class reunion weekend of celebration together at Homecoming. We even had the pleasure of having the 1970 Homecoming Queen, Patricia Heary, and her escort, Mike Chapman among us at the game! It was wonderful to see so many alumni at the Homecoming game and hope you will join us again this year.
We are Thankful. Thankful for you. Thankful for our PVI Family.
We Thank all of you who helped us kick-off the giving season last fall at Paul VI with your generous gifts, your friendship, and your prayers!
Our PVI Giving Tuesday goal was to reach a record number of alumni in this 50th anniversary year for Paul VI High School. Were thrilled to announce that as of 11:59 p.m. on December 1, 2015, our PVI Giving Tuesday Campaign raised $16,369.65 from 141 donor gifts via social media.
The Paul VI community proved that alumni really do GIVE BACK! This campaign was a wonderful tribute to the history of this school, and because of your generosity, we will continue to provide opportunities making a difference in the lives of our students. We hope you will join us this year!
We are so grateful to the Paul VI family for its pride and generosity.
This past summer over 200 Paul VI alumni and families (from the 1970s to the class of 2010) gathered with old friends at the annual Paul VI summer party at Flip Flopz in North Wildwood on July 16th to help celebrate our 50th Anniversary.
