The Paul VI Girls Freshman team traveled to Bishop Eustace on Thursday to take on the Crusaders Freshman. The Eagles went out fast, jumping to a 11-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Crusaders kept coming at them. By the end of the first half BEP had fought back and it was the Eagles that actually had scrambled to tie the game at 21 just before the half. By midway through the 4th quarter the Eagles were trailing the home team by 10 points, but thanks to inspired defensive play by the entire team they would not say die and fought back yet again, scoring the final 9 points of the game and taking home a very hard fought "W", winning 38-37.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Natalie Burns with a game high 11 points, Norah Costello added 7 including 5 in the 4th quarter run, Bernadette Tiberi and Tiaerrah Coney each scored 6, Grace Jablonoski dropped 5 points, Morgan Cieslik added 2 and Taylor Bentley rounded out the scoring with 1 point. Next up for the Eagles is a Saturday afternoon matchup at Eastern where they will face the Vikings Freshman team at 3:00pm
