Michael Glavin, Class of 1974

Michael Glavin attended St. Joseph’s University where he held many records for indoor and outdoor track and qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in both his junior and senior year. He later received has is Masters degree in Mathematics from Villanova University. Mike joined the Paul VI faculty and and coached boys’ cross country and track and field from September 1979 through June of 1989. While coaching at Paul VI, Mike led the cross country team to win the Conference Championship from 1980 through 1989.
He also led the team to become the state champions from 1983 through 1985 and again in 1988 and 1989. He also led the way to victory for the boys’ track and field team in 1989 to win the state championship. In addition the track team won county and conference titles in outdoor track. The team also won two All Group titles (now known as the Meet of Champions) in Cross Country in 1984 and 1988. With accolades such as these it is no wonder coach Mike Glavin has not only been inducted into the Paul VI High School Hall of Fame but the South Jersey Coaches Hall of Fame.
 
Mike met and began dating his wife, Julie, in August of 2001. He and Julie married in November of 2002, and have two children, Graeme Matthew and Michael James.
 
Mike teaches at Haddonfield High School and also St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, where he has been coaching since his PVI days in 1989. Mike is the Head Men’s Coach for each of the Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field, and Outdoor Track & Field seasons.
 
Mike can easily put life in perspective saying “There’s nothing like coming home from two jobs and having the boys hug you, kiss you, or jump up and down on you to put life where it needs to be.”
